INSEAD is "The Business School for the World" and lives up to the expectations. Teaching and training the future CEOs and disruptors of our time in a modern and beautiful school.
Problem
Plagued by the hurdles of Covid-19, INSEAD had a very rocky rebranding that spun several years of negociations, contract expiration and messy design system.
INSEAD is huge. It is a school on par with Harvard, Stanford or Oxford. Their MBA is ranked 4th worldwide by Financial Times and 1st for their Executive Education programs. So the mission was high stakes. It's not just your run of the mill school: it's a respected, renowned, and highly selective school with students all over the world. The standards are high so the design work must meet that standard.
Solution
My aim was to bring clarity, modular designs and structure to a very complicated project
Most of the design system had already been prepared by an external agency. The issue was that the contract with that agency fell through because of Covid and the team of developers hired to bring the site to life were missing key elements and had no design overview to follow.
My job was to : #1 make sure the UI is coherent, correctly hierarchized and properly implemented on all pages site-wide and #2 create a document for the dev team to follow and refer to when they need.
For that I worked with Figma to create custom elements and blocks, and Drupal to create the pages themselves. Because the goal wasn't to completely overwrite designs already made but rather tweak them my moves were limited, but it allowed me to go straight to the point and help INSEAD to finally meet their deadline.
